Mike Fox’s first single, recently BBC Radio 2 single of the week, has had over a 150k streams. Frontman Mike is acclaimed Downton Abbey and Dunkirk star and is now pursuing his first love, music.
April draws on influences across the board from the likes of Patti smith and Jeff Buckley to Hiatus Kaiyote, and incorporates experimental and non traditional elements such as processed viola, harmonica and extended vocal techniques. They are new to the London circuit and are currently gigging across the country receiving praise from the likes of reverbnation and soundcloud: “April has an astonishing voice. It is clear and direct. She hits notes dead on and effortlessly glides across octaves.”
His distinctive soulful tone, honest lyrics and vibrant pop melodies showcase a natural talent reminiscent of James Bay, Paolo Nutini and Alabama Shakes. His song writing caught the attention of Lewi White from Ealing studios in West London and the two bonded and started writing and recording, taking his sound to the exciting place it is now. Priding himself on his live performances, the energy of the music led to supporting Tinie Tempah in Coventry earlier this year.
